On Sunday, May 12th, the highly anticipated free vision screening day organized by the Lions Club Arco-Riva del Garda will take place in Segantini Square in Arco. This initiative aims to raise awareness about eye diseases and their prevention, as 80% of these conditions are preventable or treatable.
The Lions Club is committed to screening children, primary school students, and adults to identify those at risk of vision loss. The location for the screenings changes every year, and this year, the mobile clinic of the social cooperative Abil Nova from Trento will be present.
The new feature this year is that appointments are not necessary. The screening will take place in the morning from 9 am to 12:30 pm and in the afternoon from 2 pm to 5 pm. The screening is free of charge and does not replace a medical examination, but it allows for the identification of any potential eye conditions and directs individuals to specialists.
The initiative by the Lions Club Arco-Riva del Garda falls within the six areas of interest of Lions Clubs International, which also include diabetes, the environment, hunger, childhood cancer, and humanitarian causes. This event has always received great support from the local community.
It is important to note that Lions Club members do not replace doctors. The purpose of the screening is to identify potential visual conditions early on in order to intervene promptly. Once a condition is identified, individuals are referred to specialists.
For those interested, the event flyer can be consulted for more information on the GPS location and how to reach the screening site.
