From **March 3rd to 8th**, the Lombardy Region is offering **free mammographic screenings** and **HPV tests** in celebration of World HPV Awareness Day and International Women’s Day. During this week, entities within the Regional Health System (SSR) will collaborate with Health Protection Agencies (ATS) and Local Health and Social Care Companies (ASST) to raise awareness about the importance of **health prevention in Lombardy**. Women aged 45 to 49 who have not had a mammogram in the last 12 months, as well as those aged 50 to 74 who have not undergone one in the past 24 months, will be able to access mammographic screening. Additionally, HPV screening will be available for women aged 25 to 29 without a recent pap test, and for those aged 30 to 64 who have not had an HPV test in the last five years.
HPV vaccination is available for men and women up to 26 years old, as well as for specific at-risk categories according to the 2024 Regional Vaccination Prevention Plan (PRPV). Open days at hospitals and diagnostic centers will provide free access or require appointments, encouraging citizen participation. Regional Welfare Councillor Guido Bertolaso emphasized the importance of prevention in the fight against cancer, urging everyone to actively participate in these screening and vaccination initiatives.
