From October 30 to November 2, the Filmfestival del Garda celebrates its XVII edition with a significant theme: “No Borders – Without Borders”. This annual event will take place in one of the most iconic locations of Gardesana culture, the Vittoriale degli Italiani in Gardone Riviera. The film festival promises four intense days filled with films, author meetings, and special events.
Festival Program
The event will kick off on Wednesday, October 30, at 6:00 PM at the Cinema Nuovo Eden, where the documentary Listen to Me Marlon will be screened, marking the beginning of a retrospective dedicated to Marlon Brando on the centenary of his birth. The evening will continue at 9:00 PM with the presentation of the film 50 Years of CLU by director Erika Rossi, who will be present to engage with the audience.
On Thursday, October 31, the program includes two feature films in competition: Lala by Ludovica Fales and We Are the Mistakes That Allow Your Intelligence by Erika Rossi. In the afternoon, Luca Malavasi will host an aperitif with the author discussing “Bad Guys,” while the day will conclude with the screening of The Wind Blows Where It Wants by Marco Righi and the iconic Rocky Horror Picture Show, encouraging participants to come in costume to celebrate Halloween.
Focus on the Tribute to Franco Basaglia
The festival dedicates significant space to the Tribute to Franco Basaglia and the figure of Erika Rossi. Friday, November 1, will feature important screenings such as Trieste Tells Basaglia and The Journey of Marco Cavallo. These films will explore the cultural revolutions that took place in the 1970s under the guidance of the Venetian psychiatrist.
Special Events and Celebrations
On Saturday, November 2, special events will take place, including “Coffee with Critics” and a retrospective on Brando featuring screenings of classics like Last Tango in Paris and Guys and Dolls. Additionally, this edition pays tribute to actor Stefano Cassetti, known for his work between Italy and France, who will participate in a public discussion.
Festival Closure
The final ceremony will be held on Saturday evening at 7:45 PM with a cocktail followed by the awarding of the best works. Prestigious awards will be presented, including the Audience Award “Cav. Attilio Camozzi” and the Critics’ Award “Giovanni Turolla”.
In addition to the main program, Sunday, November 3, features an extra day called “Dipoi FFG,” culminating in the screening of The Godfather, a timeless masterpiece directed by Francis Ford Coppola.

• Basaglia100 Section: a tribute to the Basaglian movement and the work of Erika Rossi with films like Trieste Tells Basaglia.
• Garda Ciak Section: The Rest of the Night by Francesco Munzi (2008), featuring actor Stefano Cassetti.
• BloodyGarda Section: cult classics like The Rocky Horror Picture Show (Jim Sharman, 1975).
