The “Garda Maḉḉ Race,” the craziest nighttime regatta on Lake Garda, is back on June 22nd and 23rd. Organized by the Fraglia Vela Desenzano, the event sees participants start from the Maratona di Desenzano port and sail to Riva del Garda and back, under the light of the full moon. The competition, which lasts about ten hours, offers sailors the opportunity to experience a unique night on the lake. Registrations are open until June 19th.
The idea for the regatta was born in 1996 thanks to some members of the Fraglia Vela Desenzano and has become a regular event on the local calendar. FVD President Stefano Loda emphasizes the unique charm of the lake at night and the challenge of nighttime navigation. The program includes various preliminary activities on Saturday afternoon, with the start set for 9:30 PM. The awards ceremony will take place on June 28th at the Fraglia Vela Desenzano headquarters.
