A conference dedicated to sustainable tourism took place on Thursday, April 10, in Brescia, addressing the issue of tourist flow management in relation to overtourism. Organized by the association Giovani per un Progetto, the event featured participation from industry experts, including Alessandro Fantini from Federalberghi and Andrea Maggioni from Confesercenti. During the discussion, it was highlighted that UNWTO projections indicate an annual growth of tourist arrivals by 3.3% until 2030, but this expansion brings significant challenges for the affected areas.
The speakers emphasized the importance of strategic planning to avoid imbalances between visitors and residents, pointing out that a lack of adequate investments and promotional strategies could undermine the quality of local life. The need to create synergies among citizens, business operators, and institutions was reiterated to ensure a tourism experience that respects the identity of the locations and fosters a sustainable balance over time.
