The project for the new tunnel along the Gardesana route between Gargnano and Tignale has encountered yet another bureaucratic hurdle, further complicating an already complex process. Franceschino Risatti, president of the Alto Garda Mountain Community, announced that after receiving assurances from Rome regarding the conclusion of the environmental procedure, he realized that the necessary opinion from the Superintendency was missing. Currently, this opinion is being obtained and must be sent to Milan in order to proceed with the process. Risatti emphasized the urgency of meeting deadlines to avoid losing the 1.8 million euros allocated for the project design.
The infrastructure project involves the construction of the tunnel within the Anas-Mit Program Agreement for 2021-2025, with an estimated cost of 126.2 million euros. The new tunnel will have a straight development of approximately 1,800 meters and will be connected to the existing tunnels; the contract is expected to be awarded in 2025, subject to the timeline for the closure of the environmental procedure by the Ministry of the Environment.
