The Ministry of the Environment has recently approved the construction of a bypass tunnel along the Gardesana Occidentale, between Gargnano and Tignale. This significant step emerged during a meeting attended by Minister Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, the President of the Mountain Community Park and Mayor of Limone, Franceschino Risatti, the Mayor of Tignale, Daniele Bonassi, and architect Stefania Baronio. The project, with an estimated cost of around 126 million euros, involves the construction of a tunnel that will replace the three existing tunnels: D’Acli, Eutemia, and Dei Ciclopi, aiming to alleviate the frequent traffic congestion in this area.
Following the positive opinion on environmental compatibility from the Lombardy Region received last summer, the completion of the environmental procedure is now awaited. The upcoming Conference of Services at the Mountain Community will be crucial for defining the project’s details and initiating the necessary bidding process to commence construction.
