Giovanni Franzoni, the skier from Manerba del Garda, has achieved a significant milestone in his career by finishing fourth in the Super-G at the World Cup in Beaver Creek. The race, which took place yesterday, saw the 23-year-old start with bib number 39 and finish just 60 hundredths of a second from the top and 13 from the podium. This result marks an important comeback after suffering a leg tendon injury in 2023 in Wengen, as his best placement prior to this performance was a 22nd place in the Super-G in Bormio in 2022.
Franzoni expressed his satisfaction at the end of the race, stating that he feels fit and ready to aim for the podium. He emphasized the tension he felt during the competition, especially given the number of competitors who exited the course. After two years of hard work and a challenging period due to his injury, the skier from Garda now feels more mature and motivated: “It’s as if I’ve lifted a weight off my shoulders,” he said. With this renewed spirit, Franzoni looks to the future with confidence and determination.
