A hiker was bitten by a viper in the late afternoon of June 1, 2024, while in the inland area of the Alto Garda Park, on the border between the municipalities of Gargnano and Valvestino. Despite the incident, the man managed to reach the second bridge of the Valvestino dam and alerted the rescue teams.
The Volontari del Garda (Volunteers of Garda) arrived at the scene with an ambulance, but due to the distance from the nearest hospital, it was necessary to call in the helicopter rescue service. The hiker was then transported to the Civil Hospital of Brescia to receive the necessary treatment. Fortunately, he is not in a life-threatening condition.
