A new innovative project, Vineagest, has been launched by the Technical Service of Condifesa Lombardia Nord-Est to enhance viticulture in the Brescia area. This program aims to integrate 4.0 technologies in agriculture to tackle diseases such as Esca disease, a fungal infection that poses a serious threat to vineyards. In collaboration with the Institute for Bioeconomy of the CNR in Bologna and the wineries Ca’ dei Frati and Ferghettina, the project seeks to enhance the decision-making capabilities of grape growers through constant monitoring and the application of “smart agriculture” techniques.
The funding comes from the Rural Development Program of the Lombardy Region and includes the use of multispectral drones to map vineyards and track plots via GPS. A dedicated app has also been developed for field data collection, enabling producers to access detailed information about each individual plant. This knowledge will be crucial for devising effective strategies against diseases and optimizing agronomic practices, thereby addressing an issue that currently lacks definitive solutions.
