Yesterday, February 6th, the first conference on Strategic Assessment took place regarding the major amendment to the Land Use Plan of Desenzano, focusing on the San Martino Park and the industrial area of the former Federal Mogul. This meeting marked an important step towards the adoption of the new Planning Document, responding to 61 requests received in 2021 and an additional 12 recent submissions from citizens, organizations, and businesses. The project concerning San Martino Park aims to enhance a large protected area through the preservation of historical and natural elements, while the recent proposals seek a balance between agricultural development and environmental protection.
In addition to the issues related to the park, the discussion included the redevelopment of the former Federal Mogul site, which has now been sold and is set to be transformed into a residential and tourist area. However, the mayor expressed reservations about some ambitious projects planned for this area, which would include shops and skyscrapers. The requests from private entities also aim to revise restrictions on non-agricultural buildings and to encourage renovations, while the Lugana Consortium has made suggestions regarding pedestrian and cycling paths and green space management.
