A landslide caused the closure of the Gardesana road between Limone and Riva del Garda in Trentino on September 6, 2024. Around 7 PM, debris fell from the slope just north of the Hotel Pier, tumbling onto the roadway and into the lake below. Fortunately, no vehicles were involved. The firefighters from Riva del Garda responded to the scene, accompanied by geologists to assess the stability of the slope and plan for the removal of the debris.
The state road 45 bis will remain closed to traffic at least until the following morning, when further inspections can be conducted in daylight. This situation poses a significant inconvenience for residents and tourists in the area, as this stretch of road is the only connection between the lakeside municipalities in Trentino and those in Brescia. A similar incident occurred on March 8 in the same area, leading to an extended road closure for safety checks.
