A violent landslide has struck the hamlet of Serniga, in the municipality of Salò, following heavy rains that hit the province of Brescia on June 4, 2024. The landslide caused the road to be invaded by earth and debris, forcing local authorities to completely close the road as a precaution. The traffic interruption was ordered after the convent, in the direction of Gardone Riviera, at the border with the neighboring municipality.
The municipal authorities have stated that further inspections will be carried out on Wednesday morning by technicians and geologists to assess the stability of the landslide area. Only after these checks will it be decided whether it will be possible to reopen the road, at least with alternating one-way traffic. This event once again highlights the risks associated with extreme weather conditions and the importance of preventive measures to ensure public safety.
