On Saturday, June 15th, the San Nicolò port in Riva del Garda hosted the highly anticipated eighth edition of the Lions Sailing Event, a commemorative event dedicated to the memory of Marco Benedetti. The event, organized by the Lions Club Rovereto “Fortunato Depero” in collaboration with the social cooperative Archè, the Vallagarina Community, the Macramé association, and the Naval League of Riva del Garda, represents an unmissable annual appointment.
The Lions Sailing Event stands out as a day of celebration and inclusion, with people with disabilities taking part in a non-competitive regatta. This year, about thirty participants had the opportunity to experience the thrill of sailing on Lake Garda thanks to the availability of 19 boats provided by boat owners who are sensitive to human needs.
The event is dedicated to Marco Benedetti, who tragically passed away ten years ago during the Palio delle zattere in Rovereto. His memory is honored every year through this initiative that brings joy and inclusivity to the participants.
During the opening greeting, Lorenzo Pozzer, the sports councilor of the Municipality of Riva del Garda, emphasized the importance of making sports accessible to everyone at an amateur level. “This is precisely the purpose that the Lions Club Rovereto ‘Fortunato Depero’ aims to achieve with this service,” Pozzer said.
The Lions Sailing Event has become one of the most well-known and appreciated events in the annual Lionistic calendar. Every year, it attracts more attention and participation thanks to its strong message of inclusion and solidarity.
In summary, the eighth edition of the Lions Sailing Event once again confirmed its crucial role in promoting sports as a tool for social integration on Lake Garda.
