Crowds and adrenaline were in full flow this afternoon in the hinterland and alleys of Maderno for the ninth edition of Mad of Lake, the urban downhill race that saw the participation of the world’s top performers in this discipline. Czech world champion Tomas Slavic confirmed his dominance by winning for the fourth consecutive time.
With a time of 2’32.357, Slavic beat Tyrolean Hannes Alber, who finished second last year as well, by just 3 seconds. The podium was completed by Slovakian Michal Prokop, who arrived almost 5 seconds behind the winner. In the women’s competition, Jessica Bormolini from Livigno took the victory with a time of 3’05.184, followed by Czech Simona Jirkova with a delay of 4 and a half seconds. In third place was Asia Sirolla from Piedmont, trailing the winner by 12 seconds.
A total of 93 competitors from different parts of Europe lined up at the start, ready to challenge each other along the well-established 1600-meter obstacle-filled track with a vertical drop of 230 meters.
