In Lombardy, on the occasion of the European Day of the Single Emergency Number 112, the Welfare Councillor Guido Bertolaso visited the Single Response Centre (CUR) located at the ‘Annarumma’ Barracks in Milano. During the visit, he had the opportunity to meet with operational staff and observe how emergency calls are managed. Also present at the meeting were the General Director of AREU, Massimo Lombardo, and the Prefect of Milan, Claudio Sgaraglia. Since the launch of the NUE 112 project in 2010, the Lombard CUR has handled over 56 million calls, becoming a national model for emergency services.
The system provides rapid responses thanks to advanced technologies such as the “112 Where Are U” app and the eCall service for vehicles. Additionally, the Lombardy Region has introduced anti-aggression buttons in 22 hospitals to protect healthcare personnel. Bertolaso emphasized the importance of NUE 112 as an essential service that saves lives daily, highlighting the average response times, which stand at around 5 seconds. The CUR represents a valuable asset for the safety of Lombard citizens and will continue to invest in technology and training to further improve this vital service.
