On Saturday, April 12, 2025, the handover of the community gardens in Lonato del Garda took place, an initiative that involves the allocation of cultivable land plots to local residents. The environmental assessor, Cristian Simonetti, accompanied by his colleague Massimo Castellini, met with approximately twenty-two citizens who were beneficiaries of the municipal call for applications, which had a deadline set for March 20. During the meeting, the regulations concerning the use of the spaces were explained, with a specific focus on the water management guidelines and potential issues in the area located in Lonato due.
Assessor Simonetti expressed his satisfaction with the state of maintenance of the community gardens, highlighting the added value brought by the work of a volunteer, Daniele, who was described as “tireless.” Thanks to his dedication, Simonetti explained, the area is maintained in optimal conditions.
A further significant development for the urban gardens of Lonato has been the expansion of the area, made possible through funding obtained from a call for proposals by the Lombardy Region at the end of 2024. This intervention has allowed for the creation of around ten new plots, offering additional cultivation opportunities in the coming months for an increasing number of residents interested in the initiative.
