The project for the purification of Lake Garda’s waters has returned to the forefront of discussion during the recent meeting of the Environment and Territory Commission of the Lombardy Region, held on Wednesday, October 23. Councillor Pollini presented a motion raising concerns about the construction of new facilities in Gavardo and Montichiari, highlighting the need to revise the current operational agreement. In particular, worries were expressed regarding the proposal to discharge wastewater into the Chiese River.
During the meeting, the idea of constructing a single treatment plant in the Brescia area of Lake Garda instead of the two facilities outlined in the original project emerged. This proposal was supported by Giorgio Bontempi (FdI) and positively received by representatives of the Presidio 9 Agosto present in the chamber. In the coming months, further hearings and technical assessments are planned to explore more sustainable and shared solutions, with the aim of protecting the interests of the entire affected territory.
