The sports hall in Barbarano, Salò, is about to start a new life. After renovation works, the facility will become a reference point for sports associations in the area.
Built in 1999 to replace an old abandoned warehouse, the sports hall was the headquarters of the Robur athletics club for over twenty years. However, recently the club decided to move to the Lino Turina municipal stadium in Salò, which offers more suitable facilities for its needs.
This decision has opened up the possibility of using the Barbarano sports hall to host sports competitions such as basketball and volleyball. The municipal administration has initiated contacts with other sports clubs in the area that currently use school gyms or similar facilities in Gardone Riviera as playing fields. The goal is to transfer their activities to the new facility.
To make the sports hall fully suitable for hosting official matches, the administration also plans to build a stand with around 240 seats. The total cost of the project is estimated to be around 20,000 euros.
One of the first teams to be enthusiastic about this project is the A.S.D. New Basket Salò, whose young athletes have already had the opportunity to test the new playing field during a trial run.
In the coming weeks, site visits will be carried out with the other involved clubs to evaluate and agree on the optimal ways to use the sports hall.
The mayor of Salò, Gianpiero Cipani, expressed great satisfaction with this project dedicated to youth and grassroots sports: “We are happy that this sports hall, transformed into a real gem thanks to recent modernization works, can become useful and become the home of sports associations that do commendable work in introducing young people to the world of sports.”
