On Wednesday, the New Year’s Dive will take place in Riva del Garda, an event that attracts numerous participants every year. No registration is required: anyone wishing to take part in the challenge simply needs to show up at 11:00 AM at the location, where the preparation and presentation of the participants will occur. At the twelfth chime of the Renga, the bell of the Apponale civic tower will signal the start of the dives, bringing to life a tradition that has deep roots and involves generations of locals.
This event has become a staple since 1999, thanks to a group of friends who decided to formalize the initiative. On average, around one hundred people participate in the dive each year, although there have been years with many more participants, all under the watchful eye of a large audience. It is important to note that only swimsuits and shorts are allowed for participants, while wetsuits and waterproof coverings are prohibited.
