No more long waits to obtain a passport. Thanks to the online service “Passport Agenda,” developed by the State Police in collaboration with the State Polygraphic Institute and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, citizens can now submit their passport applications directly from home. By accessing the dedicated website, users can complete the application using the options “Log in with SPID” or “Log in with CIE.”
Once the data entry is complete, the system allows users to indicate any urgent requests regarding the issuance of the passport. Additionally, a booking receipt is provided, which includes details on the necessary documentation to be submitted. A support guide is also available to facilitate the use of the portal.
Alternative Booking
Those without internet access can request a passport appointment at their local municipality or Carabinieri stations. In this case, it is necessary to present an identification document and the tax code. Even after scheduling an appointment, it is possible to modify it through the website.
Useful Information about Passports
The passport is issued to adult Italian citizens and is valid for ten years. Upon expiration, it is mandatory to request a new document. The electronic passport consists of a 48-page booklet with a microchip in the cover, containing personal information, a photo, and the holder’s fingerprints. The digitized signature appears on page 2; however, the following individuals are exempt from signing:
- Minors under 12 years old
- Illiterate individuals (with documented status)
- Persons with verified physical disabilities
For minors, it is essential to have an individual passport; registration on a parent’s passport is no longer permitted.
The website also provides information on how to submit the application, procedures for requesting it abroad, necessary documentation, and additional services such as home delivery.
Legislative Update on Issuance to Parents
Recently, Article 20 of DL 69/2023 introduced significant changes regarding the issuance of passports to parents with minor children. According to this new regulation, the consent of the other parent is no longer required to obtain a passport for one of the two parents. However, if there is a prohibitory measure issued by the judicial authority against the applicant, the latter will not be able to receive the document.
This update greatly simplifies the procedures for parents wishing to travel abroad with their minor children; however, mutual consent is still necessary to issue a passport to the minor themselves.
The digitization of procedures thus represents a significant step forward in improving public services related to identity and travel documents for all citizens residing in Manerba del Garda and the surrounding areas.
