The new section of the Garda Cycle Path was officially inaugurated on Friday the 21st, connecting the Panda Gallery to the Sperone area in Riva del Garda. This segment, approximately one kilometer long, is a crucial part of the 166-kilometer cycling loop that encircles the lake, allowing cyclists to access the “Sperone Beach.” The project, which involved a provincial investment of 11.2 million euros, engaged local companies for 90% of the work and is part of a broader initiative aimed at enhancing cycling infrastructure in the region.
During the inauguration, the president of the Autonomous Province of Trento emphasized the significance of the project for the safety of cyclists and highlighted that it had been a priority for the Alto Garda region since 2019. The route was designed with a focus on safety, incorporating artificial rockfall galleries and protective measures along the rocky cliffs. The new path, which repurposes the former SS45 bis, will be completed with a connection to the fortified complex “Tagliata del Ponale” by next autumn.
