The new Catullo Middle School in Desenzano is nearing completion and is set to open its doors on Tuesday, January 7, coinciding with the resumption of the school calendar after the Christmas holidays. Currently, final touches are being made at the construction site located next to the Laghetto Park, which will accommodate over 500 students. According to information provided by the Administration, static testing and inspections of the systems are underway, while the relocation of administrative services is scheduled for next week.
The total cost of the new school project is 12.5 million euros, with over 8 million financed by Pnrr funds and half a million from the Ministry of the Interior. The building spans approximately 3,600 square meters over two floors and includes around twenty classrooms, laboratories, a gym, an auditorium, and a library. During the Christmas holidays, the relocation of school furnishings and the enhancement of the outdoor area with new plantings will also take place. The installation of an access ramp has been confirmed to ensure accessibility to the entrance on Via Michelangelo.
