The asphalt work on the high-speed train track between Lonato and Desenzano has begun, marking a crucial step towards the installation of the rails for high-speed service. This process, visible along the stretch from the exit of the Lonato tunnel to San Martino, involves the application of a semi-rigid layer of bituminous conglomerate, known as “sub-ballast,” which will help stabilize the embankment on which the fast trains scheduled for 2026 will run.
In the logistics yard in Calcinato, the necessary sleepers for the tracks have already arrived, an essential part of the railway infrastructure. After facing several challenges related to contract assignments and rising material costs due to the conflict in Ukraine, progress is now being made swiftly towards the completion of the Brescia-Verona line, with the aim of finishing the work on schedule.
