The project Raricomefranci has recently secured significant funding for the appointment of a researcher dedicated to the study of rare diseases at the Pediatric University Clinic ASST Spedali Civili in Brescia. Dr. Alessandra Verde, who specializes in rare metabolic diseases, will be responsible for both clinical and research activities, supported by a research grant of 154,000 euros raised by the “Rari come Franci” Association. This project was inspired by the desire of Francesco Tedoldi’s parents, whose child passed away due to Pompe Disease, to improve conditions for children suffering from similar conditions.
In parallel with the researcher appointment, a fundraising campaign is currently underway to establish the “Francesco Tedoldi” Rare Disease Center for Children. This center will be tasked with providing diagnosis and care for young patients with rare and metabolic diseases, facilitating continuity between hospital care and community services. The initiative is also supported by the Saveriocrea Association and Rotary Brescia Est, who are actively collaborating to achieve this important goal.
