The Pederzoli Hospital in Peschiera del Garda continues to strengthen its position as a national reference point for the treatment of oncological diseases. This is highlighted in the National Outcomes Program 2024, prepared by the National Agency for Health Services (Agenas) and recently presented in Rome. The results of the latest edition are based on the healthcare activities carried out in 2023 by approximately 1,400 public and private healthcare facilities across Italy.
An Observatory on Hospital Care Quality
The Agenas report serves as an observatory on hospital care, analyzing data through a series of indicators divided into eight different clinical areas. It is widely recognized that a high volume of surgical activity is correlated with better treatment outcomes, and Pederzoli Hospital is a clear example of this.
Excellent Results in Oncological Surgeries
Specifically, the hospital stands out for the number of admissions related to specific oncological surgical procedures: it ranks third in Italy for radical prostatectomy with 405 surgeries performed in 2023; fifth for the treatment of kidney cancer with 202 admissions; thirteenth for operations related to bladder cancer, with 48 surgeries conducted; and again, fifth nationally for the treatment of pancreatic cancer, with a total of 114 surgical interventions.
Investments in Skills and Technology
Gianluca Gianfilippi, the medical director of Pederzoli Hospital, commented on the results, stating: “The Agenas data demonstrate that the path we have taken in recent years, focused on planning and optimizing services, is the right one.” The director emphasized how the hospital has attracted new professional skills and invested in innovative technologies, contributing to raising the quality standards of healthcare services.
Recognition of Territorial Quality
Gianfilippi also expressed gratitude to the President of the Veneto Region, Luca Zaia, highlighting how the hospital represents a Venetian reality that contributes to the overall quality in the territory. “We are proud to be part of the regional health and social care system,” concluded Gianfilippi, reaffirming the ongoing commitment to providing excellent healthcare services to patients from all over Italy.
