The Sigurtà Garden Park continues to receive prestigious global recognition, solidifying its position as one of the most enchanting locations for the tulip bloom in Italy. During the 9th World Tulip Summit, held in The Hague from October 16 to 18, 2024, the park was awarded the World Tulip Innovation Award 2024 for its renowned event Tulipanomania, which attracts thousands of visitors every spring.
The Dutch event saw the participation of over 60 delegates from more than twenty parks and organizations specializing in horticulture, making it an important platform for exchange and innovation. Count Giuseppe Inga Sigurtà represented the park during this summit, expressing satisfaction with the achievement: “I am pleased with this new milestone, the result of hard work.”
Tulipanomania: A Festival of Colors and Scents
The Tulipanomania event is a true festival celebrating the bloom of over a million tulips, accompanied by hyacinths, daffodils, and muscari. This floral spectacle takes place between March and April, transforming the Sigurtà Garden Park into an explosion of colors that attracts visitors from all over Italy and beyond.
Each year, the park’s flowerbeds are designed with always new varieties, creating unique installations such as floating flowerbeds in the Water Gardens and benches adorned with flowers. The proposed innovations have significantly contributed to the recognition received this year.
Territorial Collaborations
Another recognized aspect was the Sigurtà Garden Park’s ability to collaborate with the surrounding area. Since 2018, young Ambassadors of the park have been appointed, thus strengthening ties with local communities. Additionally, beautiful flowerbeds have been created along the lakeside in the municipality of Bardolino (VR), further enriching the visitor experience.
A Growing Path
Starting with a modest initial bloom of just 5,000 tulips, Tulipanomania has grown to become an unmissable event thanks to the dedication of the organizers and the continuous search for the most beautiful varieties. The bulbs are manually planted by gardeners in the autumn months to ensure a breathtaking display during spring.
The park will reopen its doors on March 8, 2025, offering free admission to women in celebration of International Women’s Day.
Previous Awards
The success of the event is not new; over the years, the park has received numerous significant awards. In 2016, it won the title for “The Most Beautiful Bloom in Italy” from the network “The Most Beautiful Park in Italy.” Other recognitions include the award for Best Tulip Festival in the World conferred by the World Tulip Society in 2022.
These successes testify to the ongoing commitment of the Sigurtà Garden Park to promote natural beauty through events that celebrate floriculture. The growing notoriety of the tulip bloom makes Tulipanomania a landmark in the landscape of Italian spring events.
