The Forra Road has been closed since December 16, 2023, due to a landslide, but recent monitoring has yielded positive results. The goal of local authorities is to ensure the reopening of the road by Easter. Data collected in recent weeks has not detected any movement within the tunnel or instability in the cliff, marking a significant step towards restoring traffic. To ensure the safety of the route, the first planned intervention involves blasting a 70-cubic-meter boulder that threatens the tunnel; these operations are expected to take place in the coming weeks.
During today’s meeting between local authorities and technicians, further measures were discussed, including external anchoring and internal capping of the tunnel. The President of the Province, Emanuele Moraschini, confirmed that reopening the Forra Road is a priority for the administration, while the Mayor of Tremosine, Battista Girardi, emphasized that the closure is causing serious economic repercussions for the local community ahead of the upcoming tourist season.
