Polpenazze is preparing for an important initiative to restore the crucifix, which dates back to 1598 and is attributed to the carver Gio Battista Lancino, located in the parish church. The local Alpine group has launched a fundraising campaign to safeguard this artwork, which is currently in critical condition and at risk of irreversible deterioration. The estimated cost for the restoration amounts to 19,000 euros, a sum that the group members intend to raise through community and institutional awareness.
On Friday, November 15, at 9 PM, there will be a meeting titled “What Future for the ‘Monumental’ Crucifix of Our Parish Church” in the council chamber. During the event, Claudio Mazzacani, the leader of the Polpenazze Alpine group, will present the restoration project, and Gabriele Bocchio will provide historical information on the artistic significance of the church and the artwork itself. The meeting represents an opportunity to reflect on the necessity of preserving local cultural memories.
