The Lonato logistics hub seems to have reached its final phase, with the request for revocation of the land’s building capacity by the environmentalist list “Ritrovo Lonato”. After the Region’s rejection of the logistics hub project on the border area with Castiglione, political forces are demanding a clear stance on the issue.
The negative opinion of the Regional Territorial Office of Brescia concerns the non-modifiability of the water network, thus recognizing the environmental importance of the area. However, to complete this evaluation, the cancellation of the intention to build near the Site of Community Interest and the formal recognition of the naturalistic vocation of the entire inter-municipal area are also necessary.
To support this request, the expansion of the supra-municipal park of the high Mantuan morainic hills is proposed, including the archaeological area of the Roman Furnace. Furthermore, the elimination of building provisions related to the logistics hub and the adjacent area for motorsports is requested, with consequent modification of the Territory Management Plan.
Before the definitive cancellation of the 93,000 square meter Lonato logistics hub project, which has already received a series of binding negative opinions, the examination of the Environmental Impact Assessment by the Province will have to be awaited.
