TREMOSINE, STRADA DELLA FORRA: A DANGEROUS ROCK OUTCROP HAS BEEN DETONATED In recent hours, the detonation of an unstable rock outcrop along the Strada della Forra in the municipality of Tremosine has been carried out. This intervention was necessary to ensure road safety in an area where a boulder of approximately 70 cubic meters was looming over the tunnel below. The presence of the boulder had been reported following a landslide that occurred on December 16, 2023, which had already compromised the stability of the surrounding area. The detonation was executed by expert technicians appointed by the Road Sector of the Province of Brescia and required a temporary ban on navigation in the waterway below.
The operations involved the use of 300 detonators and 300 kilograms of explosives, with drilled holes made to optimally position the charges. After the controlled explosion, 24/7 monitoring was initiated to assess the stability of the area. By the end of next week, provincial technicians and designers will evaluate the results of the observations to plan any further interventions aimed at mitigating the risk of rockfalls, thus maintaining a strong focus on safety in the area.
