Recently, the Fire Service and Civil Protection of the Autonomous Province of Trento issued a call for the safety of thermal systems and wood stoves, emphasizing the importance of proper maintenance to prevent fires and carbon monoxide poisoning. Authorities recommend that each wood-burning appliance be equipped with its own dedicated flue, which should be cleaned regularly, and that multiple appliances should not be connected to the same flue. Additionally, it is crucial to fuel stoves only with clean, dried materials, avoiding inappropriate substances that can produce toxic fumes.
To ensure maximum safety, the installation of new systems must be carried out exclusively by qualified personnel. The use of braziers or grills should only occur in open, well-ventilated spaces to minimize the risks associated with carbon monoxide accumulation. It is essential to adhere to these guidelines to protect not only one’s home but also the health of individuals present in domestic environments.
