Yesterday, Monday, February 10, the annual meeting of Salò Promotion took place, the association representing over 155 businesses in the Brescia town. During the meeting, outgoing president Andrea Maggioni provided a positive assessment of the collaboration with various entities, including the Municipal Administration and the Lake Garda Lombardy Consortium. Maggioni was confirmed for a third consecutive term, alongside operational vice presidents Ottavia Felter and Gianluca Banalotti. The situation of tourism in Salò was also analyzed, highlighting a positive trend in 2024 due to the arrival of North American and Asian tourists. However, the data indicates a decline compared to 2022, with 234,709 arrivals in 2023.
At the same time, retail trade in the city is facing significant challenges, with a decrease in commercial establishments from 270 in 2021 to 258 in 2023. In response to this crisis, Salò Promotion has requested targeted interventions from the Municipal Administration to support local businesses, proposing the establishment of an Urban Commerce District and other measures to stimulate activity even during off-peak tourist seasons. Maggioni warned that without concrete actions, many shops could close due to rising management costs and raw material prices, emphasizing the vital importance of retail for the economic health of the city.
