The Coast Guard conducted a rescue operation for two fishermen who, around noon today, Wednesday, December 17, requested assistance due to a sudden thick fog that reduced visibility to less than five meters. The two men were aboard their small boat and were unable to navigate their way back to the home port. The request reached the Operations Room of the Coast Guard in Salò, which promptly dispatched a team aboard the vessel GC B135, already active in the area.
Thanks to the swift intervention, the rescuers reached the fishermen within minutes, assessing their health and escorting them back to the home port, located about two miles from the interception point. The operation proved crucial, especially considering the harsh temperatures nearing freezing. The Coast Guard advises navigators to pay attention to weather conditions and to always carry a smartphone to contact emergency services if needed.
