The Salò Merchants Association, known as Salò Promotion, has introduced a new initiative to improve communication with residents, tourists, and customers. With the aim of providing timely information on local events and activities, a dedicated WhatsApp channel has been created.
A New Communication Tool
The city of Salò, located on the shores of Lake Garda, is heavily dependent on tourism and commerce. In this context, effective communication is crucial for accommodation and commercial establishments. Salò Promotion, which has nearly 150 members, has decided to expand its communication tools by creating a WhatsApp channel open to everyone.

Andrea Maggioni, president of the association, emphasized the importance of this new initiative: “The future of communication is also heading in this direction. We cannot and should not miss any opportunity to communicate how beautiful our city is and how many activities can be done.” He also added that this tool allows for more direct and effective engagement of citizens and visitors: “It is a more direct, effective, and immediate way to involve all the people of Salò, our customers, and guests in all the opportunities that our city can offer.”
How the WhatsApp Channel Works
The new WhatsApp channel is free and is already operational. To join, simply click on the link provided by the association and activate notifications. Subscribers will receive updates on events organized by the Municipal Administration, the ProLoco, and Salò Promotion itself, as well as useful information to make the most of the city.
Advantages of the New Channel
Maggioni highlighted some significant data: “Messages sent to users via WhatsApp have an 85% open rate, while for emails and in-app messages, the open rate is 36% and 21% respectively.” This demonstrates the effectiveness of the new medium compared to traditional channels.
In Italy, there are over 35 million WhatsApp profiles compared to 26 million Instagram profiles; globally, the numbers are 2 billion and 1.5 billion respectively. The WhatsApp channel covers a broader demographic range in terms of age and geography.
In conclusion, Maggioni invited everyone to follow the new channel: “We could not give up on this new means of communication. Follow us, and there will be no more excuses not to come to Salò.”
