Salò is preparing to commemorate Pippa Bacca, the artist tragically killed in Turkey in 2008, with the 17th edition of the non-competitive swimming event dedicated to her memory. The event will take place on Saturday, August 17, at 6 PM, starting from the beach in front of the Salò cemetery and finishing in Piazza della Serenissima. Participants will wear a green balloon, symbolizing the love for life and the brotherhood that Pippa represented.
Pippa Bacca, originally from Marineo and the granddaughter of the renowned artist Piero Manzoni, embarked on an artistic journey dressed as a bride to promote peace. Her life was cut short at just 34 years old by a violent attack while she was in Turkey. Every year, family and friends repeat this swim in her honor, inviting everyone to come together to remember her message of openness towards others. Participation is free, and those interested can register via email until the day before the event.
