Ruben Andreoli, a 45-year-old from Sirmione, has been denied the abbreviated trial in the case of his mother’s murder, Nerina Fontana. The crime occurred on September 15, 2023, in the family’s apartment in Colombare di Sirmione. The request made by lawyer Marco Capra for a trial based solely on the investigation’s evidence, which would have resulted in a reduced sentence if convicted, was rejected by the judge during a hearing held yesterday.
Andreoli is accused of committing the crime with the aggravating factor of killing his mother, and he will now have to face an immediate trial. The defense presented an expert opinion describing Andreoli as capable of understanding and intending his actions at the time of the crime, but with obsessive-compulsive disorders and schizoid traits. The tragic event seems to have been triggered by a change in family dynamics shortly before the crime. The final decision on the granting of mitigating circumstances will be crucial in determining the verdict of the court.
