A strong wind struck Gargnano during the night of July 19 to 20, 2024, causing a portion of the fir tree located next to the parish church of San Martino to fall. The tree, already compromised by past weather events, crashed to the ground just before 1:30 AM, but fortunately, it did not damage any parked cars nor resulted in any injuries.
The firefighters from the Salò station promptly intervened to remove the broken branches, using chainsaws to clear the area around the churchyard. The debris was temporarily placed at the foot of the church steps while awaiting transportation to the collection center.
