This weekend marks the conclusion of the series of events organized by the Municipality of Riva del Garda and Altogarda Parking and Mobility, in celebration of the European Mobility Week. This program features various initiatives aimed at raising community awareness about the importance of sustainable mobility.
The Role of the Mobility Manager
On Saturday morning at 11 AM, at Palazzo Martini, Gianluigi Salvagno, a member of the Business Economics team at Confindustria Trento, will present the concept of the mobility manager. This professional role is crucial for managing mobility demand and promoting sustainable commuting between employees’ homes and workplaces. Each year, companies are required to draft a Home-to-Work Travel Plan (Pscl), which aims to reduce private car usage and improve work schedule organization to limit traffic congestion. During the meeting, Salvagno will also share a specific project dedicated to mobility management in the Alto Garda area.
Green Corridor: Sustainability Projects
Following this, Diego Cattoni, CEO of A22, will discuss the Green Corridor project, which includes a series of initiatives aimed at sustainability along the Brenner motorway. These initiatives include the installation of eight centers for the production and distribution of green hydrogen, as well as the expansion of electric charging stations and the construction of new sound-absorbing barriers to enhance the quality of life in surrounding areas.
World Car-Free Day
On Sunday, Riva del Garda will participate in World Car-Free Day, an event established in 2000 and celebrated every September 22 in over 1500 cities worldwide. On this day, the area from Spiaggia degli Olivi to Viale della Liberazione (including Via Filzi) will be closed to vehicular traffic and parking. The initiative aims to promote greater awareness of the benefits of sustainable mobility and encourage eco-friendly solutions in urban transport. It is estimated that car traffic contributes up to 30% of CO2 emissions in European cities, making the transition to more sustainable forms of transport essential.
