Hidden Springs Beneath Mount Pizzocolo: New Discoveries by Water Seekers. Recently, an important mission focused on water research took place in the depths of the mountain at Toscolano Maderno, aiming to identify previously unknown water resources. Caving teams explored the areas of Mount Spino and Pizzocolo in search of karst water that could prove crucial in addressing future droughts. This project, named “Agartis,” aims to gather data by exploring lesser-known aquifer systems, benefiting from the collaboration between the Alto Garda Caving Group and the Underland association.
After an initial phase of study and mapping, the project recently presented its first results at the Mountain Festival in Toscolano. Technicians highlighted significant progress in exploring the cavities of Mount Pizzocolo, where cavers have managed to reach depths of over 100 meters. This discovery opens new perspectives for caving at Mount Pizzocolo, suggesting potential water reserves to be preserved for the future. The initiative is funded by Acque Bresciane, with active participation from the Cai of Salò and the Municipality of Toscolano Maderno.
