L’ultramarathon runner Fabrizio Amicabile is preparing for a new extraordinary challenge: a solo run from Venice to Brussels to raise public awareness about neurodegenerative diseases and collect funds to support patients and their families, with all proceeds being donated to the Nemo Center. The initiative was officially presented in Lonato del Garda and later in other Italian cities, including Venice, Padua, Verona, and Turin.
Scheduled to start on August 23, the goal is to carry the voices of families affected by these conditions to the European Parliament in Brussels, calling for concrete institutional commitment to improve care and assistance. Along the way, Amicabile will traverse four countries—Italy, Switzerland, France, and Belgium—with organizational support from the Lions Clubs, which will be present along the route to ensure logistical assistance and hospitality.
**Fabrizio Amicabile: Sport and Solidarity**
Fabrizio Amicabile is no stranger to extreme challenges for charitable purposes. Among his most significant undertakings are the relay race **Run for SLA – Agrigento-Venice 2023**, aimed at supporting research on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, his participation in the New York Marathon during his honeymoon, and the **Vertical Run for Charity**, where he climbed 27,000 steps of the Palazzo della Regione Lombardia to raise awareness about the importance of supporting patients.
“This run is a new personal challenge and an opportunity to contribute to those in need. The support of the community, especially that of Lonato del Garda, is crucial for the success of this initiative, and I would like to thank everyone in advance who wishes to support me,” Amicabile stated.
**The Key Figures of the Event**
The presentation of the initiative will feature prominent figures from the sports, institutional, and associative worlds, including:
– **Giacomo Spazzini** from GS Loft, athletic trainer and sponsor of the endeavor
– **Davide Magnabosco**, President of ASI Brescia and member of the Lions Club Lonato del Garda
– **Max Bocchio**, press officer for the Lions District IB2
