The winter sales will kick off on Saturday, January 4th, an eagerly anticipated event in the fashion sector in Brescia. Despite positive expectations for the winter season, commerce has been affected by a decline in consumer spending and confidence during the holiday period. According to data from Confesercenti, over the past decade, the province has seen about one in four fashion businesses close, resulting in a total loss of 442 stores. Francesca Guzzardi, vice president of the association, emphasizes that this year the weather conditions have been more favorable compared to previous years.
Andrea Maggioni, coordinator of Confesercenti Lombardia Orientale, highlights the importance of the sales for businesses around Lake Garda, which offer a wide range of products at discounted prices. It is anticipated that nearly half of Italians will participate in the event, with an average budget of 218 euros per family and initial discounts of 25%. Physical stores remain the preferred choice for consumers due to their ability to provide a personalized and conscious shopping experience. However, the sector continues to face significant challenges due to frequent promotional sales and a decline in commercial activities in recent years.
